Mr. Diarmuid Cahalane, Co-Founder & Director of Metabolomic Diagnostics was one of the key speakers at the European Union, Interreg Project CODEX4SMEs conference in Galway last week.
WestBIC, CÚRAM and their European partners hosted the Interreg North-West Europe project, Codex4SMEs (Companion diagnostics expedited for small and medium-sized enterprises) on Wednesday, 18th September 2019 at Hotel Meyrick, Galway. Codex4SMEs aims at improving healthcare by the enhanced adoption of personalised medicine. It’s objective is to establish a network, which supports SMEs along the value chain of companion diagnostics development.
Attended by researchers and life science companies from across Europe, the event showcased the latest concepts in development of innovative IVD concepts. The event also provided an opportunity to meet the nine European partners involved in the project and information on the supports that the project can bring to a SME.
Mr Cahalane spoke on “Route To Market for IVD Companies” focusing on what he calls “the three pillars upon which a successful IVD company is founded”: Unmet medical need, Clinical utility, and the support and endorsement of key opinion leaders.”
Commenting on the event, Mr Cahalane said ““Ireland is a world leader in data processing and medical science. Right now, Ireland has the potential to lead the convergence of research in order to bring to market next generation medical technologies based on revolutionary Bioinformatics.
